Town of Berry Fatal Crash

At 11:34 am on Sunday, October 4th, Dane County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Cross Plains Police Department, Cross Plains EMS, and Cross Plains Fire responded to a motorcycle versus vehicle crash at U.S. Highway 14 and Scherbel Road in the Town of Berry.

Initial investigation shows a red Subaru Forester and a black BMW motorcycle were both driving westbound on US Highway 14. The driver of the red Subaru had stopped and was waiting to turn left on Scherbel Road when the driver of the motorcycle collided with the back of the Subaru. 

Motorists who saw the crash stopped and began lifesaving measures on the injured motorcyclist. Unfortunately, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was not injured.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team, Crime Scene Unit, Unmanned Arial Vehicle Team, and detectives responded to investigate the incident. The road was closed for several hours while the investigation was completed.  

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending family notification. The case remains under investigation.
