U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka volunteers host Misono Children’s Home at Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka
The “Hero Bowling” event brought the group together for an afternoon of bowling, lunch and superhero-themed activities at the Yokosuka Bowling Alley. The event provided a fun, welcoming experience for the children while strengthening the hospital’s relationship with the local community.
Volunteers bowled alongside the children, shared lunch and encouraged them throughout the afternoon. The event created opportunities for fellowship and reinforced the command’s commitment to building lasting relationships with its Japanese community partners.
“We wanted to expand on our annual Angel Tree Toy Drive partnership with Misono Children’s Home, build our relationship with them and bring the children to our base,” said Lt. Cmdr. Daniel J. Robinson, command chaplain for U.S. Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (USNMRTC) Yokosuka. “This was our first time hosting the children for this event, and seeing the joy and connection it created made it especially meaningful. The children appeared to have a wonderful time, and we hope this will become a recurring opportunity to strengthen our friendship with Misono Children’s Home.”
USNMRTC Yokosuka’s Pastoral Services also partners with Misono Children’s Home each December through an Angel Tree Toy Drive, providing hospital volunteers an opportunity to donate Christmas gifts to children at the home.
“This bowling event gave our team a meaningful opportunity to welcome the children of Misono Children’s Home and share in their excitement,” said Capt. Joshua A. Miller, commanding officer, USNMRTC Yokosuka, and director, U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka. “I am proud of our volunteers for helping create a memorable day, and we look forward to continuing our partnership during the Angel Tree Toy Drive this December.”
The event reflected U.S. Naval Hospital Yokosuka’s continued commitment to community engagement and its enduring relationship with the Yokosuka community.
