Pender County Seeks Community Input for New Maple Hill Playground

Pender County invites residents to attend a drop-in public engagement session on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Maple Hill Volunteer Fire Department, 115 Old Maple Hill Road N., Maple Hill, NC, to help shape plans for a new playground in the Maple Hill community.

Funding for the playground was provided through an appropriation from the North Carolina General Assembly. The playground represents an important investment in recreational opportunities for Maple Hill residents.

The session will give residents an opportunity to share what they would like to see included in the playground and provide feedback that will help guide the project’s design. Input is welcomed on playground features, accessibility, play elements and other amenities that would make the space enjoyable and welcoming for local children, families and community members. 

“This is an opportunity for the Maple Hill community to help shape a space that will belong to them,” said Zach White, Pender County Parks and Recreation director. “We want to hear from the families, neighbors and children who will use this playground so we can create a place that reflects the community and gives families a space to gather, play and make memories for years to come.”

Residents are encouraged to stop by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to learn more about the project, ask questions and share their ideas.
